Rob runs Stockholm Marathon 2018 for Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières / Läkare Utan Gränser

On Saturday 2nd June 2018 I'll be running the Stockholm Marathon and in addition to a personal target of finishing the race in under 4 hours, I want to take the opportunity to try and raise money for a valuable cause. I'd therefore like to ask you to consider donating to MSF (Médecins Sans Frontières / Doctors Without Borders / Läkare Utan Gränser).

MSF, which was founded in 1971 in Paris, is an independent and impartial emergency aid organization, made up primarily of doctors and healthcare workers who provide medical assistance to people afflicted by armed conflict, natural disasters and crises such as disease outbreaks, regardless of political affiliation, religion, race or gender.

Since its founding, MSF has treated over 100 million patients around the world, and the organisation was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 in recognition of its pioneering humanitarian work.

In 2016, MSF operated 468 projects in 71 countries, carrying out more than 9 million outpatient consultations, treating over 2.5 million cases of malaria, providing nearly 230,000 individual mental health consultations and admitting around 80,000 severely malnourished children to inpatient feeding programs.

MSF’s current programs include responding to an Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo; a mass vaccination campaign for children in West Aleppo, Syria; and a newly-constructed hospital for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

For more on MSF’s work, click here.

If you feel you would like to join me in supporting MSF’s vital work, please do.

Thanks!

Rob

As those in Stockholm will know, temperatures were high on Saturday (in fact, it was the second-hottest Stockholm Marathon in the 40-year history of the event). So I was nowhere near my target time of 4 hours, but did complete the course in a time of 5 hours 11 minutes. As the new profile picture shows, it was difficult to do but fantastic to finish. Thanks to everyone who has donated to my fundraising campaign so far! Your support is very much appreciated. Contributions still welcome until 15th June.
